UWUHD is a showcase for footage and imagery shot by Simon Buxton. Simon has been travelling the world with his camera for over 15 years, mainly with a marine focus.
Simon is passionate about Marine Conservation and strongly believes we should do all we can to encourage responsible dive tourism. In Indonesia Simon spends his time outside of NAD Lembeh taking pictures of the local environment and talking with local people about how to conserve their natural resources.
Simon Buxton has had his work featured in both print and film. Print wise, many International Diving Magazines have featured his Photography at some point – Rodales Scuba Diving, Sport Diver, Scuba Diver Australasia and Asian Geographic. He has also had footage featured in productions for WWF Indonesia, WWF Germany, LG and NHK.
Simon is currently shooting a Canon 1Dx and RED Dragon in Nautical Housings when underwater, as well as a Panasonic GH4 for Aerial work and of course the ubiquitous Go-Pro for everything in between.
Simon Studied Marine Biology and Zoology at the University of Liverpool in the UK, and then headed to Asia after completing his Diving Instructor course. He then immediately began working as a Photo/Video Pro in Palau, before heading to French Polynesia where he worked in various roles and gained his RYA Yachtmaster Offshore license which allows him to captain vessels unto 200 tons. Following Tahiti he moved on to Mexico to work a season in the Soccorro Islands before heading back to Asia, staying in Bali for just over a year before moving to Sulawesi.
Simon managed NAD-Lembeh for 2 years before buying the company and then beginning a transformation and complete renovation of the resort – which is now arguably one of the top places for Underwater Photographers to stay it in the region. Simon is on site most of the time and offering Technical Diving and Photography Support.
